Yes. We get it. Sometimes the naming of Fanatec products is quite confusing.

The Fantec CSL Elite Pedals V2 are the updated version of the V1 Elite Pedals, that were initially released in 2016 and discontinued in 2016. You might wonder what the differences are, as the V1 are still sold online in second-hand marketplaces and they look very similar.

Here the main differences:

  • V1 did not include a load cell brake by default.
    • Users could upgrade with the CSL Elite Pedals LC kit (sold separately).
  • V2 comes with a pre-installed load cell brake.
  • Load Cell Kit compatibility:
    • The newer CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit is not compatible with V1.
    • V2’s load cell system is also not compatible with V1.

Internal designs of V1 and V2 are completely different, despite similar looks.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are the Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals V2 and V1 the same?

No they are not, you might not find any differences whatsoever many changes were made from one version to another, the load-cell was completely revised, and they definitely improve the way you connect these pedals as well, not to mention the all-new overall experience you will get with sensibilities and adjustabilities.

What’s changed from V1?

The load-cell has been completely redesigned for a new level of experience

Worth the money?

I think the CSL Elite pedals are worth every penny you spend on them, they were completely redesigned from the V1 with a mid or high-end user in mind, if you are planning to buy for an affordable load-cell product, then the CSL Elite V2 is a good option for you.

Our Thoughts

We like this set pedals that come with improvements from the previous versions. Basically, we are talking about a product with almost 10 years of history and a lot of tiny improvements that should make the reliability even stronger

In general for the price of 300$ you can still say even in 2025 that it is a solid product: a really good set of pedals, with a strong Load-Cell, and new software improvements

Is it better to buy the V2 or V3 Pedals?

The CSL Elite Pedals V2 are a newer, more affordable option, typically over $100 cheaper than the ClubSport V3. They offer easier brake adjustment with elastomers and are ideal for players who don’t need a clutch. For most console racers or those focused on simplicity and value, the V2 provides excellent performance at a better price.

The Fanatec CSL V3 pedals, while older, include more premium features like a clutch, integrated dampers, and a more realistic brake feel. They suit sim racers looking for added immersion, especially with manual cars. They are a bit older in terms of design, but the value the hold on second hand marketplaces suggest they are still a sim-racers favorite

As of July 2025, a CSL Pedals V4 version is rumored, but no official details have been announced.
